En essayant de traduire le dernier post je me rends compte que y'a pas de mot pour dire petit boulot ou comme on dit en Fance, job d'été. Comme si cela voulait dire qu'on pouvait avoir une occupation professionnelle l'été qui ne pouvait pas être la même durant l'année. En anglais un job est un job peu importe le reste. Si on est payé, on a un boulot.
When I first tried to translate the last post I realized I couldn't find a word to translate 'petit boulot', literally small jobs, or 'summer jobs' referring to student's occupation while out of school. I seem to think that in English a job is a job and that if you are getting paid then you have a job, whatever it is.
Je me demande si c'est lié à la mentalité française d'avoir une carrière : de planifier des le lycée, voir avant, son parcours professionnel et s'y tenir pour le reste de sa vie. Comme ci on n'avait pas le droit de changer d'avis ou (pire encore) de se tromper !
Pourquoi ne pas accepter qu'on soit trop jeune pour prendre ce genre de décision, trop jeune à 15 comme à 20 ou 25 voir 33...
I wonder if that's linked to the French idea that you need to focus on your 'career', as early as possible you need to determine you professional plan and stick to it for the rest of your life! It's frowned upon to change paths, even little...as if you weren't allowed to change your mind or (worse!) make a mistake.
Why not accept that you may be too young to make that kind of decision, too young at 15 or at 20 or 25, or even 33
